Simple Smash Burger Recipe

Here's a simple recipe for making a delicious smash burger:

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
Salt and pepper to taste
Hamburger buns
Sliced cheese (optional)
Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)
Condiments of your choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc.)
Instructions:
Preheat your griddle or a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. You want the cooking surface to be hot.
Divide the ground beef into equal portions, about 1/4 pound each. Shape each portion into a loose ball.
Season each ball of ground beef with salt and pepper on both sides.
Place one portion of ground beef onto the hot griddle or skillet and immediately press it down with a spatula to flatten it into a patty. Press down firmly to create a thin, even patty.
Repeat the process with the remaining portions of ground beef, leaving enough space between each patty on the cooking surface.
Let the patties cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges start to brown and the bottom is crispy.
Using a sturdy spatula, carefully flip each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
If you want cheese on your burgers, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and let it melt for about 30 seconds.
Remove the patties from the griddle or skillet and let them rest for a minute.
While the patties are resting, toast your hamburger buns on the griddle or in a toaster.
Assemble your smash burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add your desired toppings and condiments.
Finally, place the top half of the bun on each burger, and your delicious smash burgers are ready to serve!
